We were looking for another breakfast place other than New Day (not that there was anything wrong with the restaurant at all!) and found Cottage to be very cute and looked up there yelp and had to come by to try them out for myself and so glad I did! I ordered the Bacon and Brie Scramble which came with hash browns and it came out perfect! The flavors and consistency of the scramble was perf the hash browns were not too oily and well done enough for the crunch and still fluffy. -Btw it also comes with a side of toast or bakery item and I highly suggest their cinnamon roll!!!! So moist and fresh! If you want something sweet and love creme brûlée then you have to try the Creme Brûlée French Toast but Its more of a sharing dish

We stopped by after the ferry ride from Victoria for breakfast. Menu was impressive in size with lots of options. The only thing lacking was a small breakfast. My wife was hungry, I was not. Portions are very large, I could have used a half plate! My scramble was perfectly made, not greasy and solid. Hash browns were perfect. My wife liked hers as well. Cons-Drip coffee is dishwater. Absolutely horrible. Bring your own coffee.

We had breakfast. The Belgian Waffles are good size. It comes with adequate butter and syrup. The side of bacon was awesome. The OJ was great as was the French Roast coffee. My wife had simple scrambled eggs and what turned out to be a huge piece of a apple streusel cake. It was to die for but it was a breakfast in and of itself. The prices are expensive but you get big portions -- yet another restaurant where the average customer would probably prefer smaller portions and lower prices. Good service!

My wife was thrilled with their gluten-free "pastry of the day". And the creme -Brule french toast was amazing

So beautiful...should've sent a poet... So I'm posting a picture of the coffee cake next to the cinnamon roll. They're big enough to be a meal in and of themselves, so we shared it between a table of 5 people. My ideal retirement would be walking here with my husband every Sunday for coffee cake and coffee (which was good too), reading the paper, then waddling home to burn some of it off. I ordered the quiche and hashbrowns, but my son stole all my hashbrowns so I'll just have to assume they were good. My daughter ordered the skillet (pictured here) that was huge and came with hollandaise on the side (which she said was the best she's had). Both these options come with a baked good of your choice. My son's Belgian waffle looked good, his dad loved the option to have his eggs Benedict on a croissant, and my younger son had a massive plate of pancakes he raved about (also pictured here). On top of all this, the interior was cute, family friendly but not crazy loud, and the servers were incredibly sweet. Look, I never write reviews. At most, I post something short if a place was terrible so as to warn others. This restaurant, though, has inspired me to write a great review to encourage others to visit. I literally have a kidney stone right now and getting a good meal in me had helped take the edge off a bit. Yes, they're cinnamon rolls may very well have heading properties. :)

Fantastic! ! After a mediocre meal at our hotel last night, I searched yelp for a good recommendation for breakfast. You all did not disappoint! ! I started with a cinnamon roll which was amazing. I then had the brie and bacon scramble, amazing. My husband had a mother's day special of northwestern scramble, amazing! Neither of us could finish our food which was a shame. The servers were very attentive. We sat outside with the waterfall which was lovely. All around fantastic breakfast!

Excellent. We had cup of chicken curry soup that was tasty, hot (temperature) and large for a cup. The Thai chicken entree was excellent - very fresh and nice seasoning, also hot. Wish they were open for dinner

Great breakfsst. Loved the bacon and brie scramble and the homemade cinnamon roll was massive and delicious. Highly recommend for breakfast

A great brunch place in port Angeles. We were a group of 14 and they handled a party of this size with ease. The service was very good! The mimosas, especially the orange mimosa was much appreciated at the table. I had the fish and chips which were a touch underspiced. The tartar sauce was great though. My wife had the vegeterian medley with hash browns which was rather good. The waffles were liked by everyone as were the omlettes. The best part was the coffee cake. It was warm and soft and the fruit tasted fresh. Overall, a great place for brunch and on the way to onp.

Cute little restaurant, the food was amazing, best hot chocolate I've ever had, and service was awesome.

Everything was absolutely amazing. Great food. Great service. Incredible menu. Baked goods to die for. I had the creme brulee french toast with a side of sausage. That was the most amazing breakfast I have ever had. My companions we're very pleased with their meals as well. Portions are generous. Eggs cooked to perfection. The omelets come with a choice of toast or a bakery item. The cream cheese mixed berry coffee cake was huge and amazingly delicious as was the mixed berry. I can't wait to go back there and have the Dungeness crab omelet. Prices are a bit high but the food is well worth the price.

This was so wonderful, plenty of food, good service although you do need to bring your patience but I think it is because your getting truly prepared food. We intend on be back there in the morning for breakfast!

This was an amazing experience. First off - order the coffee cake. Doesn't matter if you don't want it, doesn't matter if you don't usually like it. It comes piping hot and was the best coffee cake I've had in my entire life. Amazing. Dungeness crab benedict on CROISSANT. I don't really need to say more, except that the amount of crab you get is exorbitantly awesome (and I'm reluctant to say that, lest they reduce it). I had ordered the veggie hash browns and got an enormous amount of vegetables and potatoes with avocado, sour cream, and salsa. So good! I couldn't even finish half of it because it was that hearty... or maybe because it came with a pastry of my choice and I had the aforementioned coffee cake. Friendly staff, good coffee, huuuuge portions... I wish it was closer to me!

The place looked very old on the inside, kind of like a snooty waspy Grandmas house. The classical music they played was so loud i had to raise my voice to talk over it. The music was also pretty pretentious. Clasical music can be so soothing and relaxing the music they played was kind of cheesy. & i happen to love classical music. The wait wasn't too long but the food want very good. I can't remember the exact name of the sandwich, but it was chicken with fig jam. That was pretty good, but it was smothered in mayo, & kept falling apart. Also the kids menu needs a revamp. The kids pizza, was covered in some orange cheese that didn't melt well & got kind of hard after it cooled. The idea of eating brunch at a nice restaurant is a good idea. But for good food, welcoming atmosphere & an over all good brunch date, go to sequim & eat at the Oak table.

Huge portion of biscuits and gravy. Gravy was decent for a restaurant - hard to find one like mom's. Coffee was pretty terrible - tasted burnt, kind of like an ashtray. Service was friendly. Overall, this place was okie dokie, but not as fabulous as I was told it would be.

Came here after reading the Yelp reviews! Very nice quaint little place! A little on the pricey side, I don't usually like paying $36.00 for breakfast only having 2 meals and coffee. But maybe that's the norm in this part of the country. The food is a little different but good. The scrambles come with hash browns and a bakery item, we had the cinnamon roll and the coffee cake which are very good! I recommend both! We ordered the Bacon and Brie scramble which has very good bacon, spinach and tomatoes. Also had the Bacon Swiss scramble that had bacon. The servings are very large and filling, the coffee was expensive. Although everything was good, I prefer regular breakfast food!

  • Katherine S.

Bring your appetite! The scrambles are delicious and the service was fantastic. A perfect breakfast before visiting Hurricane Ridge! I suggest the Pike's scramble! So filling!

Alright. This place might be terrific if you don't suffer from a food allergy. I know. We are annoying and probably the bane of a waitstaff's existence. I'm sorry. I like to eat out sometimes, though, and when traveling, I'll take what I can get. We came in on a recommendation of my Find Me GF app as we were hiking in the area one holiday weekend. After reviewing the menu, it was pretty obvious by GF my choice was a salad, omelet or burger sans bun. That's pretty typical most places outside of the city, actually. Maybe if you don't have a serious allergy where cross contamination is a factor, you could eat more. Our server was super nice and she admitted she had no idea what a gluten allergy was and would go back to the kitchen to verify if certain dishes were safe or not. That was great. I ordered a burger (sans bun) and had to opt for a salad as their fries are fried in a fryer that is shared with ingredients containing gluten. After confirmation from the kitchen on safe dressings, my salad came out with croutons on it. Not a big deal, it's easy enough to get a fresh one. The server was very apologetic. Here comes my issue... After all of the discussion about my allergy and checking on safe ingredients, whomever fixed my salad (whether is was the server or kitchen) they just picked out the croutons! So, when I received the "new" salad, I could plainly see on top all of the crouton crumbs. I noticed before I took a bite (which had I eaten it, I would have ended up really sick). Why couldn't they have just made a new salad? It comes in a tiny dish of like 5 bites. It's just lettuce! C'mon. I didn't even have the heart to complain to the server. I already felt bad for making her go to the kitchen to ask about ingredients as it was. Moral of the story: If you have more than an intolerance to gluten, this should not be your #1 pick. We only chose this place because the dedicated GF place in town was closed that day for the holiday weekend.

Excellent food. The apricot walnut scone is so worth trying. I ordered the chicken panini. This was very flavorful and the chutney jam was an extra burst of flavor. My wife ordered the veggie hash with scone. Again that scone was very good. It's a homemade large scone with a side of butter and jam. The veggie hash included chopped zucchini, peppers, mushrooms and onions. For dipping pleasure, there was a side of smokey salsa and sour cream. Overall the prices weren't bad. $28 for two adults.

Hubby and I were walking back to our car after spending a while at the Saturday farmers market in Sequim, WA. and a very nice older gentleman struck up a conversation with us. He found out we were visitors and would be going to Port Angeles after the weekend. He told us "Oh, in that case, you must make a visit to my favorite restaurant in Port Angeles. It is called Chestnut Cottage." That is how we found our way there and I'm very happy we did. We had a delicious and artful breakfast there. My choice was Fruited Porridge, which is real cooked oats with strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. Served with whipped butter, brown sugar and cream. It sounds simple but it was really wonderful. Hubby ordered the Traditional Breakfast of eggs, hashbrowns, four sausage links and sour dough toast. The space is decorated similar to an English tea room and is a pleasant, pretty area with lots of windows to bring in the sunshine. Our service was pleasant and efficient. The prices are, perhaps, a bit high for the area, but it was a lovely, memorable breakfast and I do thank the kind gentleman whose remarks sent us there.

Best chicken stir fry salad ever. When I travel from California I make it a goal to stop in for it! Wait staff are super friendly, decor is cute and its clean! Good place for breakfast as well. I've been having their stir fry salad since they basically opened, and not once has it deviated from that first time. The only thing that has changed is the bread, it's now a foccacia (?) it used to he a basic buttered bread stick (I preferred the bread stick). Other than that minor change Yum!

  • Greg F.

We had breakfast and it was very good. The service is good the food is good. The bakery is off the charts! Tips: My wife had the California scramble and it was great. The chipotle sauce was good but should be warm when it is served. I had the port skillet and it was good but there were a lot of potatoes. I would recommend getting an additional egg with it and fewer potatoes. The atmosphere is warm and feels down-home country with a current vibe.

The breakfast we ordered from here was delicious. The restaurant was nice and clean. It had a home-like environment with friendly staff. Their cinnamon roll (or more like a caramel roll) was great. We stayed in Port Angeles for the weekend and we went there for breakfast both Saturday and Sunday morning. The only thing they lacked was a hostess. I'm not sure if she was busy or if there just wasn't one at all but I noticed a lot of people waiting for a while to be seated when there was plenty of seating. Overall, it was a great place. I recommend it.

    (5)
  • Kurt K.

Pretty good overall. The coffee cake with fruit in the middle was moist and tasty. They had an overabundance of cinnamon sugar on it. But it was good. A couple in my group had the chipotle Benedict that had sausage. The other as a traditional. They both seemed to like it although the sausage was a bit burnt on one side. I had the old fashioned french toast made from wheat. Very hearty and cooked well. Two pieces easily filled me up. Nice service from the waitress. A solid stop for breakfast in Port Angeles

Breakfast menu is significantly smaller than the sister restaurant Oak Table, but I enjoy ordering their burgers. It comes with their special sauce for their burgers and I like it a lot.

    (4)
  • Michael B.

Good service, atmosphere, coffee, and bacon. But our over medium eggs all came out over easy. The toast would have been good if it wasn't soaked in butter. The hash browns were totally unseasoned and tasted like plain potatoes with butter. And the biscuits and gravy were just plain.

  • Gina M.

AMAZING! Very gluten free friendly, great service and the food is to die for. Normally places with huge portions do not deliver on quality and flavor, but we are so pleased with our meals and cannot wait to go back. We have the homemade cin rolls, gluten free toast, dungeness crab omlet, biscuits and gravy and one of their scrambles and could hardly move we were so full and happy. The best part...they have a new gluten free bakery option each day!

  • Lei Z.

My Garden Scramble was too bland so I had to add salt, pepper and Tabasco sauce to make-do. My husband's Farmers' Omelet was pretty good. I ate the apple strudel by myself! That would tell you how good it was. The blackberry coffee cake was very moist and tasty as well! I would definitely go back for their pastries in the future.

It took awhile being in Port Angeles to try this place but glad we finally did. We had the Northwest Scramble and Irish Benedict and shared the cinnamon roll that came with mine. Both dishes really hit the spot. The cinnamon roll was hot and had that great chewy texture that is sometimes hard to nail. A few other observations.... The wait staff was very, very efficient and pleasant. This doesn't just happen without training. The other thing I noticed is that the booths were really comfortable. Odd, I know but having sat in lots of booths its a nice change to find one proportionally correct. Lastly, the orange juice I ordered seemed fresh squeezed. Naw, I know it was. It was a winner for us.

Great food, and fantastic service. Everyone working there was super friendly. I was on a diet when I ate here and the waitress and kitchen were happy to accomidate. This was nice, because we all dislike making special diet requests in restaurants. The only reasons I don't give it 4 or 5 stars is because this establishment does not really do anything to stand out. Good food and service is expected anywhere you go. A unique menu or atmosphere is not presented here. The atmosphere was actually that of a nursing home. The walls are adorned with old frilly plates, and pink colors. It's like having tea at grandma's, which is fine if your old ,or visiting your grandma. Neither applied to me.

I think each time I go it gets better. Everyone makes me feel welcomed and the food is SO delicious! Chestnut Cottage is quickly becoming my excuse to travel to/through Port Angeles. I just love how I feel after being there.

Excellent, fresh fare. Vege scramble for that vegetarian in you plus the added "bakery item" turned out to be one of 8 diff items. Mixed berry streusel was amazing although a bit heavy on the icing to my liking. Obsequious waitresses and good coffee! A very calm and. Classic setting.

  • Sandra M.

Love this charming place! Chicken Greek salad is loaded with all the goodies and the fig and bacon pizza is so spot on.the combo of sweet salty hits that make it a big yummy! The wait people are the friendliest and give great service! No wonder this place is always popular with the repeat locals.

Outstanding. Came here with my dad, husband, and 4 month old daughter. Family friendly (except for no changing table in the bathroom, no biggie though really). I ordered fresh squeezed orange juice and my husband got the red beer (basically a bloody mary mixed with beer; it was good!). My dad got the fish and chips and said it was the best he's ever had. Husband got a fig and bacon pizza which was SO good, and I got a Belgian waffle with blackberries, whipped cream, and ice cream on top. I was pretty much delirious after finishing that, but it was ridiculously light and fluffy (the waffle, obviously, haha) and it was totally worth it. Staff was super friendly and our experience was excellent.

  • Dede B.

This place never fails to impress. The homey setting makes you feel welcome, like you're having brunch at Grandma's house. But the food... A.Maz.Ing. Fresh ingredients, bright flavors, generous portions, reasonable prices. I had the Chicken and Brie panini, and it was fantastic. Roasted chicken breast, melted brie, carmalized onions, arugula, fig jam, shallot aioli on a warm ciabatta bun. So many waffle fries on the side, I couldn't begin to finish them. The staff was very attentive and friendly, accommodating several special requests quickly and with smiles.

I am from Texas and i usually don't go out for breakfast but since I'm on vacation i thought what the hell. The decoration is quite cozy and welcoming along with the seats and booths. I ordered the pancakes and they were FANTASTIC. They were a little to big but they were extremely fluffy and light. Along with that the plate was beautifully decorated with berries and syrup. I would totally recommend this to any tourist coming through Port Angeles.

We stopped here for Sunday Brunch with a 17 month old baby. The waitresses were outstanding and the food was absolutely great. The creme brûlée french toast was to die for. The blintzes tasted like the most perfect toasted marshmallow you've ever had. The scrambled and scrambled egg & salmon were also excellent. The cinnamon buns melt in your mouth. Updating this a year & 1/2 later. Happy to say they have taken care of my only complaint; they added a nice changing table in the ladies' room. Can't speak for the men's room though. Food and service is still fabulous! Still the best cinnamon buns on the planet. Hold yourself back from licking the plate. They have an absolutely outstanding garden scramble and you should know the hash browns can always be substituted with a nice sized bowl of beautiful fresh fruit. A perfect ending to your brunch or lunch are their little shooter desserts...just enough and only about a buck fifty!

Went here last week for breakfast while waiting for Black Ball Ferry to Victoria. What a wonderful place. Decor was homey, inviting, tea-house cute. Food was pure dead brilliant! I had the Bacon and Brie Scramble with a scone. Exquisite - and very hefty portions too. Everything was fresh, homemade, and simply delightful.

We don't go to Port Angeles often and hadn't ever heard of this place. There were a lot of cars in the parking lot we figured it must be good if it's so popular. We only had to wait for about 4 minutes which was good especially for how busy they were. As soon as we sat down they brought us our beverages. I had the bacon and brie scramble and my wife had a coho salmon scramble. The portions were large and the food was good. The service was relatively quick and friendly. Pretty much the only complaint I have is that it's fairly expensive.

Great service, great food, BEST CINNAMON ROLL I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Also, if you're ever in need of a stuffed llama or a purse in the shape of a cat, this place has you covered.

I had to ask myself, is it just because we just finished 4 days in nature and havent had a huge meal? No! Thank you chestnut cottage, for the best scramble ive ever had. The Montrachet was perfect. Bacon, goat cheese, basil, and the best blend of flavors wasn't just a good refresher after camping. It was amazing. Top it off with delicious Boyds coffee and the homemade blackberry bran muffin...HOLY SMOKES. I'd go back to port angeles just for this place. Great little gem.

Chestnut Cottage is a fine restaurant. extremely classy and well thought out the waitstaff know what they are doing and take good care of you. the menu is compact with a few specialties but not so many that your head spins. oh and the food is wonderful! I almost forgot!

Nice place! It is like going back in time to my grandma's dining room! Waitstaff are friendly and efficient. Cinnamon roll was awesome! I had the northwest scramble with smoked salmon and cream cheese! Yum! I would highly recommend eating here.

We came here after my friends bachelorette, as an attempt to eat a hearty breakfast to soak up the remnants of the previous night. It did just that. After our fun night out in PA, the coffee kept coming, and my tummy was full. Mission Accomplished.

go no further! This is my second time visiting my parents here in Port Angeles and second time having lunch at Chesnut Cottage, my brother took us all out to eat lunch here. The service was excellent, the food all homemade and delivered to all 5 of us at the same time. My fruit salad with quiche was fresh and tasty, the servings are huge and everyone left full and happy. As always my dad got the veggie browns and took his cinnamon bun to go. If you need a healthy home cooked lunch or breakfast I highly recommend this place. The décor is countryish and that is fine as the food is too!

  • Ezgi M.

Beautiful place. The word to describe this place is beautiful. It is decorated like an old dining room and spacious enough to find a table without waiting long. The staff are friendly, there are as many options as a brunch place could have. I got smoked salmon scramble and it was very delicious. In addition to tasty food, the low noise level of the place and the unusual calm were big pluses. I usually hate the noise and the haste around brunch places (since a brunch is a lazy activity in my opinion) but this place was perfect. People (mostly families) eating their food slowly, chatting lightly, big amounts of food on the tabletops... I want to repeat my experience next time I visit Port Angeles.

This was the first time I had been here. Liked it so much went back a week later for lunch. Right away when you walkin you feel like you're walking into a home from 100 years ago, food was good, the first time for breakfast ordered a fruit parfait was huge. Second time for lunch ordered a california grilled chicken sandwich. Very good. Their fries are the criss cut across the potatoes, done to perfection

Went here based on my friend's recommendation (I call him "El Capitan" due to his latest Naval award but I digress - you know who you are). The restaurant had a homey feel, well maintained, clean, and offered a limited breakfast menu. Omeletes, pancakes and French toast (FT) are about the only options to choose from. When I found that they also offered a traditional breakfast, I ordered that with a slice of Creme Brulee' French Toast as well as a slice of an Apple Crisp French Toast. Eggs cooked to order, hash browns crunchy, thick slices of bacon and dessert French Toasts satisfied and filled the tummy. Creme Brulee' FT: First couple of bites were so good but then it got too sweet too fast. Here is a thought, split this dish with your friend for best results! Apple Crisp FT: OoOoO, like eating that Dutch apple pie your mom just made. Waitress was on top of things and provided excellent service. The price seems a bit high but you get a heaping, quality portion. What I like is that it is on the way to the ferry! PS, I believe that they serve lunch too.

I really enjoyed the Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries and whip cream! I rarely eat all my food but this was a time I came very close. When we arrived it was not a busy time so we were surprised that our drinks were never refilled, once we had good we weren't checked on again until the bill arrived. But the food was good

Stopped in for breakfast before heading up to the High Divide Trail for a backpacking trip. Filled our bellies with a great breakfast of eggs and decadent pastries. $15 dollar breakfast plates were worth every penny and included your choice of bakery items. Good service and tasty coffee too.

Yelp helped me find this place on the way back from neah bay. We had a group of 18 and they were able to accommodate without reservation. Service was quick and attentive. The homemade pastries were as reviewers on yelp describe. The scones were moist, the cinnamon rolls were delectable, the clam chowder was creamy and the rest of the dishes from sandwiches to crab cakes to salads didn't disappoint. My family plans and organizes trips around food. All 18 including kids were happy with their meal. If you are ever in Port Angeles you have to make time to stop here.

Lovely little breakfast place with good food and friendly service. They allow dogs on the patio area which was wonderful since I was traveling with my canine buddy. Extra thanks go to my server, Jennifer, for her friendly manner, efficient service, and for bringing my dog water without being asked.

They have gluten free bread and delicious gluten free pastries! I had the Swiss Mushroom Scramble and my boyfriend had the Bacon Brie Scramble. They both were very large proportions, especially since they served a pastry with the scramble. The coffee was actually good too. I don't normally like drip coffee but their French blend was nice and strong.

  • Adam R.

Overall I think this place was good... The food was good, the service was attentive and certainly a place that I would go back. While I don't normally complain about food coming out too hot, the Denver came out on a sizzling cast iron plate and I had to sit several minutes before I could begin to enjoy it. I did enjoy the cinnamon role, warm with lots of butter and not overly rich caramel sauce to dip it in. Probably the only complaint is the cleanliness of the floors... The carpet looks like it hasn't been shampooed in forever and where the carpet met the hardwood was a different color because of the grease. To sum up, the experience was pleasant and I would certainly be back the next time I come through Port Angeles.

Our first visit to the Chestnut Cottage Restaurant was in 2004. It deleted us then for its superior food, terrific service, and inviting atmosphere where you could enjoy gathering with friends. This continues to the case, which we rediscovered in August 2014 upon revisiting Port Angeles. Awesome Creme Brûlée French toast and excellent fruit oatmeal porridge.

The dungeness crab benedict was delicious. My GF and I both ordered it for breakfast. We also ordered a cherry struedel which was good. A very nice cozy place.

I've eaten here twice and have been impressed both times. I'm normally not a fan of pastries but the berry strudel here has got me hooked! I couldn't stop thinking about it the first time I tried it. The omelets are also good. The staff were friendly and our order came fast despite the crowd. I will always make it a point to come here just for the strudel when I am in town.

Chestnut Cottage is hands down the best breafast destination on the Olympic Pennisula. I'm from Port Angeles, and love coming back for Sunday breakfast/brunch. The praline pecan mocha with homemade whipped cream is to die for. (And this comes from a girl who only drinks vanilla lattes everywhere else.) The eggs benedict rival any I've tasted in San Francisco (at a myriad of restaurants here) as you can have your eggs on a croissant or english muffin. Their cinnamon roll is one of the best you'll ever have and their scones, etc are all homemade. (Many of their entrees come with a baked item.) Bonus! If you visit PA, don't forget to visit the Chestnut Cottage. I'll be there at the end of the month. Cheers.

The Chestnut Cottage gets a solid "meh" in my book. I've eaten there many times, and every time wished I had gone to the Haven (their cousin restaurant) instead. But little old ladies love the place, so they must be doing something right.

I should preface this by saying that the Crab Benedict was delicious and our servers, when available, were very nice. That being said, my Dungeness Crab Omelette was burned and had "little to no" flavor. I have a feeling the butter sat in the pan far too long, burning any chance the eggs had at staying cooked through without forming that lovely, charred layer of skin. My sour dough toast was also never delivered, which I had to ask for with no acknowledgment of it being forgotten. It was busy, but no more busy than any other brunch on a Saturday Morning in the Pacific Northwest during summer. Also, cat rings? If you ever needed a piece of hideous jewelry to complete your cat collection, your search can stop now! Bonus? The blackberry mimosa will color your judgement enough that you might just buy three.

Fabulous find for brunch as we began our trip back home. Picked the bakery item instead of toast. The scone alone would have fed the four of us. Two of us nibbled on it. We brought it home and it took two more days to finish! Fish and chips consisted of pieces of fish that were thick and fresh with minimal batter. Quiche was delicious and the accompanying salad was no slouch. Don't see how anyone could go wrong getting a meal here.

The Chestnut Cottage has been our all time favorite restaurant for us while we lived here and its been on our to do list every time we return for a visit. I must say the portions and price has significantly changed for the worst. These days one breakfast cost about 11.00 to 15.00 for the entree and there always use to be left overs for me to take home. I'm disappointed with the cost of breakfast. For heavens sake it was just eggs!!! To pay 14.00 for a breakfast omelet is crazy..... Just crazy. I'm sad to say this is our last visit here. I can think of much better restaurants to spend my hard earned money at.

i am a big fan of old-people dining. cabbage roses on the wall, stuffed animals on the mantle, pastel colors, massive portions that will feed you for all that day and some of the next--all of it. we arrived while everyone was at church on sunday and were treated to good service, eighteen pounds of hash browns, and peace and quiet before trekking out to sol duc falls. once eleven o'clock hit and everyone had said their amens, the place filled up faaaaaaaaaast.

This is one of the best places anywhere in Washington State for breakfast! I am a serious connoisseur of the breaking of the fast, and Chestnut Cottage is one of my favorites for traditional breakfast. The food is delicious, hot, and even when they are very busy they rock it to you pretty darn fast. They do some excellent specialty coffees, espressos, and hot chocolates. The pancakes and waffles are nummy, but watch out for LOTS of whipped cream on such things. Make sure you ask for that to be omitted if you don't care for it. They always provide an almost excessive amount of butter and syrup (several syrup choices, too). And if you are really carb-ing up for a hike on Hurricane Ridge this is the place - the cinnamon rolls and other baked goods are large and in charge! They have a huge variety of egg dishes served with delicious grilled potatoes and the ubiquitous baked good or toast, but be very hungry or be prepared to take a doggy box home. Nothing is done half-way here. A special note about the service - they are always very pleasant and accommodating, even when very, very busy (which they often are on weekends). I had one experience where we ended up changing tables 3 (count 'em, 3!) times to accommodate changing numbers and accessibility in our party, and the hosts and servers were never anything but pleasant. Not something you'd experience in Seattle, I can assure you!

We went through Port Angeles while driving the Olympic Peninsula on vacation. The person at the front desk of the hotel we stayed at suggested this place. It was absolutely perfect! The ambiance was that of an English Tea Room. The first thing I noticed was that they could have put a lot more tables in (like most restaurants do) if they crammed people closer together, but they didn't. I respect that 100%. The service and food were excellent! Even the coffee was decent (and I'm VERY picky about my coffee). If I'm ever back in P.A., this place will be a "must go".

Boy did my fellow Yelpers lead me astray on this place. Five stars?! Really? Chestnut Cottage is an upscale diner and not much more. They play classical music and have heavy patterned curtains across the windows and all kinds of grandma kitsch on the walls. The lighting is expansive thanks to large bay-like windows (although your view out the window is just a boring building across the street), and the service is super friendly. But really, this is the perfect place for octogenarians, which you'll find plenty of if you stop in for lunch. My mother always told me that a restaurant that is always full of elderly people means you can be promised bland food. I have, to this day, found her to be 100% correct. A bowl of clam-chowder soup served to us lukewarm was heavy enough to be the entire lunch meal. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad, which although mentioned no greens in the menu, was basically just that - greens with some beet pieces and incredibly bland goat cheese adorning it. The portions are large, but so are the prices. All in all, not totally worth the stop.

Breakfast is the specialty, and they include a baked good, even gluten free options. Not necessarily healthy food, but it's homemade and not a chain. Try it out!

Good food, clean dinning area and bathrooms. Very friendly wait staff. Was a little disapointed 4 out of 4 of our hot chocolates were room temp. We informed the watiress and we were still billed. Good Saturday/Sunday morning spot... but do arrive before church gets out on sunday as it does get packed!

The food is always good, and the atmosphere is like grandma's house, warm and welcoming. It's a little pricier than other places, but it's worth it. The portions are big enough to share if you're trying to save a few $. Great service and great food.

Excellently wonderful staff service from hostess to waitress. Very large seating but without a loss to the cozy feel. Biggest issue was that the food was bland and boring. Crispy chicken salad had no flavor and the veggies were dried out. Bakery items are the only way to go.

Unique entrees, quality food, good service, a bit pricey, check for coupons in Peninsula Daily News, very popular and can be busy at lunch and Sunday mornings, closes at 3pm so no dinner service.

We make a special trip to this place maybe twice a year from Seattle. Strange to see a restaurant like this on the peninsula. Upscale tea room type place and not some crusty Denny's. Some Yelpers say it's for creaky grandmas. That's fine. Go find a greasy spoon that dot the 101. The interior is supposed to be oldish, but they might want to freshen it up a tad. Anyway, the food is great (get a fat fluffy waffle) and the bathrooms are spotless.

We ate a light breakfast, so I can't vouch for the stuff that sounds like food coma heaven (i.e. Creme Brulee French Toast), but I liked the Strawberry Parfait (yogurt, berries and granola) and the hubs enjoyed his Fruited Porridge (fresh berries on steel-cut oats). We split a cherry strudel (him "Wilderness Cherry Pie filling!"). Okay, so the word "porridge" ought to be setting off some ideas of what this place is like inside. It is little old lady heaven. It wants to be English, but not Carnaby Street, oh no. This is your grandmother's childhood tea party come to life, complete with stuffed animals for sale in the anteroom. Just like your grandma's tea party, the coffee was weak. They have coffee and French Roast ("it's stronger") but really, it's weak coffee and burned-tasting weak coffee. Also, of the tea selection my husband received, there were maybe two non-decaf teabags in the mix. Wut? The atmosphere, with prissy wallpaper and wainscotting, was a bit much for me. The service was friendly. But really, this is a place to go if you want to get in touch with your inner grandmom (or, considering the immense sugariness of its menu items, inner diabetic -- they have "dessert shooters" for pete's sake). It's not a place to go for something new or fresh. The more you know.

Breakfasts & lunches are good with a good selection. Service is sketchy depending on that individual. Having recently moved to PA, I eat here several times a month for variety, but prefer another near-by restaurant.

Chestnut Cottage serves the best breakfast/brunch/lunch in Port Angeles. I am not sure what the previous reviewer is complaining about, as the prices are very reasonable. The food is very fresh, the staff is very sweet, the decor is amazing- yes, you could get much cheaper elsewhere but you will not be able to match the quality. Have been a customer since it opened. My mother and I always go to the cottage for brunch when i come back to visit and will continue to do so. A truly unique addition to Port Angeles

My husband and I had breakfast here our first morning in town. It felt like we were in grandmaw's house. The blueberry crumb cake was delish and the cinnamon roll was a giant and both were out of this world! Home made for sure! Service was spot on and we can't wait to bring the out of town family there when they visit.

Came here on a trip to visit family in Everett and we took a road trip to Port Angeles. This country cozy place had excellent service. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. I had the petite Stir Fry Salad and it was actually very good. Not sure if it was freshly grilled chicken or reheated, but the taste was acceptable. Although I would have preferred a choice of bread that came with my meal, the homemade focaccia that i was served was also very delicious. I would return if i was in this part of town again

For Port Angeles, this is a VERY, VERY nice place. Relative to what you would find in Seattle, San Francisco, Victoria, Los Angeles, or New York, it isn't now and will never will be a 5 Star (Michelin Guide) dining experience. Remember, everything is RELATIVE to the Olympic Peninsula. The review by Katie Y (below) is spot on when comparing to fine dining establishments in a MAJOR city, but way off base relative to what can be found on the Peninsula. The food is very good (again- relative to the area) and this place is 10 dozen steps above Denny's. You could do a LOT worse than the Chestnut Cottage. This is a GREAT place to have breakfast. The ambiance is good. The service is wonderful. But, be prepared to pay. You could easily go over $30 per plate here. Over all, 5 Stars would over state the case, but Katie's 2 Stars (respectfully- I'm not picking on her) doesn't really do it justice, considering your other choices in Port Angeles. The Bottom Line: A Solid 4 Stars

We really enjoyed the food here. We went 3 different mornings while we were in town. My husband is diabetic and couldn't partake of their excellent baked goods, but my daughter was happy to help him out with that. The cherry struedel was a favorite of hers. I had the Bacon & Brie scramble and it was excellent. On the last morning, I went all out and had the Creme Brulee French Toast. It was phenomenal, but there was no way I could finish it. I put my leftovers in our cooler as we were on our way back home and it was just as good cooled that night as a snack. The hashbrowns were excellent, crispy on top and buttery on bottom - perfect. The decor is very much English tea room (or grandma's living room). Classical music is playing and they've been successful in not over-crowding the dining areas while keeping the cozy feel intact. The prices were a little higher than some breakfast places in PA, but you get plenty of food, plus a baked good in most cases and the food was just better than we would have gotten at an IHOP or Denny's. The highlight of our visits was our server, Terri. She waited on us during our 1st two visits and was a delight. She answered questions about local places to visit. My daughter's eggs came out a little too brown on the 2nd visit and she asked her twice if she was happy. When my daughter decided that she really wasn't going to eat them, she asked Terri to swap them out for scrambled. Terri seemed relieved because she knew they weren't up to standard. She quickly brought out a scrambled egg and even bagged up a complimentary scone with jam to take on our adventures for our trouble. Service like this is not standard anymore. That move earned them the 5th star. If you find yourself in Port Angeles and looking for a good breakfast or brunch at reasonable prices, I would definitely recommend the Chestnut Cottage Restaurant.

Decor is slightly cheesy but breakfast is excellent. They make their own breads and pastries which are very good. I split the bacon and Gouda and Omelet with my mom because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to eat it all...the portions are generous. I really only go there when my parents are visiting, but it is good for breakfast.

My favorite lunch place in town. Very friendly staff, quick service and immaculate. I love the Victorian atmosphere and the gift items they have in their entryway. Their omelets are wonderful and their flavored coffees are great too! They have good salads, although a bit pricey. My daughter loves their chocolate chip pancakes.

Been coming here for a long time on family visits to Port Angeles. Today I went, and the service was horrendous. The hostess finally came over, and took my order after I waited 20 minutes, and no one else came. Also, I wasn't asked how I wanted my hamburger cooked. It was just dry. Doubt they used the wagyu beef they advertised. Huge disappointment.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on the last day of our vacation. The food was delicious and plentiful and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Try their fresh baked goods! So yum! We're planning to head back to Port Angeles soon and will definitely stop in again.

This was one of the nicest surprises we found on our most recent trip in October. The breakfast was wonderful. Our waitress was very helpful & prompt but not pushy. (A+ in my book) We had eggs benedict & the california scramble. No complaints here, except we were too full. They had the most delicious pumpkin cheesecake I've ever had the great fortune to try. We sent our compliments to the chef and had breakfast there again the next morning. Good prices, nice variety & good coffee! Very clean & nicely decorated. (Reminded me of a Victorian Grandma's house) Bravo!

I never spent $40.00 on breakfast with $3.50 coffees and $3.50 glass of OJ.... the best thing about this place was that certain items on the menu came with a bakery item, a strudel, a coffeecake, or a cinnamon roll. My garden scramble was good, too much spinach and my bf's California scramble was good also. We were definitely full after we ate here, and the service was good. I guess they can get away with charging out the A** because they are one of the only ones in PA that serve breakfast. It was a Sunday and everything was closed. Who closes on a weekend in the Summer when you have tourists coming in for the weekend and it was a HOLIDAY (4th of July) no less!!?!?!? eh... probably won't be back here... I would probably try one of the Cafe's on 1st. next time.

This place was mixed for me in terms of good along with the bad. The good: the waitstaff were friendly and great! They let us sit outside with our dogs and even brought out water for them! Lots of great selection on the menu and everything looked great, too many choices to choose from. The atmosphere was easy-going, inviting, and laid-back. Now, the bad: I ordered the chicken stir fry with teriyaki because I was in the mood for something with lots of teriyaki. The presentation was promising but the first bite was completely the opposite of what I expected. The teriyaki was lacking and the chicken was dried out. Asked for more teriyaki sauce and that helped the taste somewhat. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible. If anything, I would avoid the dish unless the chicken was juicy and used a different brand of teriyaki sauce. The other people in my group loved their food so I'm guessing my plate was an aberration. I gave it three stars because this restaurant is something I would definitely come back to and try something else on the menu. I am sure I won't be disappointed in that arena. Major props to the waitstaff for being dog-friendly!

Eating breakfast here was one of the best meals we had on a recent trip to the Olympic Peninsula. I had something like French Toast stuffed with custard or creme brulee. It was outrageous. The menu was huge with options for every taste. The place was physically charming with beautiful plates on the walls and a warm feeling throughout. I wish I lived closer so I could eat here every week!
